FOUNDING STORY

WHERE PLANTS REMEMBER, AND THE SKIN RETURNS HOME.

The seed of Vali was planted in 2018, when I was gifted a herbal apothecary book and something ancient in me woke up. I began crafting balms and oils, infusions and potions, relearning the idea that beauty could be earth-made and body-honouring. It stayed a quiet dream ~ until I became a mother.

When my daughter was born in January 2023, so was Vali. A second child. We almost gave her the name; when we chose Rivillia instead, I understood Vali had been waiting to become something else.

The name comes from valley - a fertile lowland where water flows and life gathers, where the earth is lush, held, and deeply alive. My own name, Tanika, means flower of the valley; my father carried that translation home from Japan long before I was born. This meaning lives at the heart of everything here: sacred beauty that grows from within. A remembrance. A coming home.

HOW WE WORK

Every bottle of Vali is poured by my hands, in my studio in the Northern Rivers, on Bundjalung Country. I make every herbal extract in-house using ancestral methods - whole plants steeped in cold-pressed oils across complete sun and moon cyclee. I source the most potent botanicals from local family farmers and small distillers around the world, hand-selected for purity.

Vali will never scale beyond what I can hold with my own hands and heart.

We use no absolutes, no CO2s, no synthetics, no lab-isolated actives, only whole botanicals, and the patience they ask for. Batches are small enough to carry.

WHO VALI IS FOR

Vali exists for the woman who lives close to the earth. Who seeks depth, not hype; devotion, not disruption. Who wants skincare that performs, and also touches something ancient.

This is not skincare that corrects you. It is skincare that returns you. Vali invites the sin to soften, to breathe, to remember its own rhythm.
